“中国文化暑期项目”始于2012年，最初由英语学院发起并主办，对外合作交流处和国际文化交流学院支持。2018年，该项目升级为校级项目，由英语学院、对外合作交流处、国际文化交流学院等单位联合主办。2021年，东方语学院加入该项目，参与联合主办。2021年，因新冠疫情仍在全球蔓延，中国文化暑期项目将于8月9日至8月20日于线上举办，为期两周。

本次项目共招收了来自十余所海外重点合作院校推荐的近30名国际学生，并遴选出12名来自英语学院和东方语学院的优秀本科生与国际学生混班学习，旨在为我校学生提供与国际名校学生融合学习的平台，打造具有上外特色的在地国际化品牌项目。

报名参加今年暑期项目的学生来自荷兰、印度、德国、伊朗、俄罗斯、韩国、意大利、马来西亚、希腊、摩洛哥、西班牙、日本、印度尼西亚、加拿大、中国等15个国家，分别就读于莱顿大学、乔治城大学卡塔尔分校、海德堡大学、阿劳麦·塔巴塔巴伊大学、莫斯科国际关系学院、韩国外国语大学、那不勒斯东方大学、萨洛尼卡亚里士多德大学、蒂尔堡大学、伦敦大学亚非学院、东京外国语大学、上海外国语大学等十余所国际知名高校。让我们一起来听听他们的心声吧！

I am fascinated by non-Western cultures and one day, I am hoping to publish a book filled with fairy tales from all over the globe.

Expectations of the program:

I am thrilled to be part of this summer program! To me, Chinese culture has this indescribable, mystical, and authentic element to it which I am keen on diving into. I am hoping to be completely amazed by the program's content and leave it with refreshing insights. Furthermore, I'm looking forward to meeting the other participants and I hope that the social network that is created can help each other out throughout our future careers. Of course, I am also planning on adding a lot of "gezelligheid" to the program!

Expectations of the program:

Through this program, I hope to learn more about China's history and culture, especially about the history of minorities in China. For a long time, I've been interested in learning about the diverse ethnic groups in the country, specifically the Kaifeng Jews, Salars, and the Chinese of Russian ancestry in areas such as Heilongjiang. I also hope to meet new friends from whom I can learn about China from a micro perspective, day-to-day China. My interest in Chinese culture stems from coming across the country several times while reporting as part of my job.

I have started to teach Chinese language which I am really interested in. Furthermore, I have translated a Chinese book to Persian with the name Making out in Chinese to gain more experience.

Expectations of the program:

During high school, I was passionate about east Asia culture and by starting my education as a Chinese language student, I found the chance to get familiar with Chinese language, culture, legend's stories, and even poets and philosophers. I would like to pursue my education at China's universities; so, I need to know more about China. Therefore, I decided to participate in this course to get more familiar with all these.

I enjoy learning new skills and I am enthusiastic about my studies and work and take great pride in achieving what I can.

Expectations of the program:

The project ideally fits with my interests on various aspects of international law and international policies. In particular, I believe that my academic background in international law could be enriched through the various debates that will take place between the participants as well as the activities and teamwork during the course of the project. Of note is the fact that the project will allow participants to express their ideas and beliefs about how they understand the beautiful country of China. Therefore, I would be glad to meet online with other motivated peers from various countries and discuss with them about multicultural environments and promote the Intercultural Learning through non formal education.

I love to learn new languages, watch documentaries and spend time with family and friends.

Expectations of the program:

A couple years ago I moved to China to become a nanny. So, I took care of two girls in a Chinese family within Pudong, Shanghai. During my time in China, I got the opportunity to see other cities, like Shandong, Beijing, Zhejiang and Xiamen. It was the sole reason to pick a degree that would allow me to keep learning about China and Mandarin. This summer school, was yet another opportunity to learn more about the country and know specifically about the culture. I cannot wait to dive into topics and meet fellow classmates, the more the merrier! 

Alongside my studies, I like to keep myself very busy. Moreover, I really like to go to the gym and spend time with my friends.

Expectations of the program:

Last semester I followed a Chinese for beginners course and I really liked learning a bit of the language and the culture. I am really interested in learning some more because I would maybe like to come to China for my master's program.

I would like to learn more about the Chinese culture with this program and meet people from all over the world.

I'm a creative and energetic person and in fact I have a lot of interests, I would define myself as a "multipotential person".

Expectations of the program:

Since the first moment I saw this opportunity on the site of my university, I immediately wanted to participate and send my application because I always had a strong interest in Chinese culture, in their unique history and traditions. I knew for sure that this was the opportunity to learn about it from the original source, to feel the real Chinese Culture. In fact, I expect the program to be a virtual journey and to "come back" to my university enriched by it and by the people I will meet, different people with the same passion about this amazing culture.

I am a native speaker of Italian and Greek, and a passionate language learner from the very beginning of my life.

Expectations of the program:

Learning foreign languages and exploring the world via travelling or studying has been an overwhelming passion of mine, and maybe this is the reason why I chose an international field of studies. All in all, I have always been keen on discovering cultures of the Far East, such as China or Japan. Consequently, I see this particular Summer Program as a chance for knowing more about the thrilling Chinese Culture, and thus I'm certain that it will be a splendid experience.

As a language learner, I firmly hold the view that having a good command of language results from a good language environment, a strong interest in learning and great investment in teaching.

Expectations of the program:

I participate in the program for having a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and other different cultures. Besides, I suppose that many people who are not familiar with Chinese culture may associate it with something superficial, such as the tea culture, Chinese martial arts and so on. To break this kind of "stereotype"，I participate in the program for having a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and spreading some more life-oriented Chinese culture.

For intercultural communication, I think it necessary to exchange opinions with each other so as to find something in common. Therefore, I am prepared for new ideas all the time.

Expectations of the program:

This activity, I think, will be a very good opportunity for all participants. Although the offline tour is no longer viable this year, I still believe that ideas can transcend geographical barriers and reach everywhere with the convenience of the Internet. I want to learn something new from all of you, and I would also like to work with you to study Chinese culture together. A great interest in different cultures leads me to a longing for traveling around the world and experiencing them.

Expectations of the program:

Having translated a documentary introducing Shanghai culture, I find that in the process of spreading Chinese culture, what really matters is to eliminate stereotypes and introduce China in an acceptable and lucid way. By taking part in this program, I hope to learn new things from foreign cultures and have a more comprehensive and profound understanding of Chinese culture. 

I love communicating and I also love my culture so much, especially the Chinese history. Besides, I love music very much.

Expectations of the program:

I want to attend the Chinese Culture program because I'm interested in knowing about what foreign peers think about China and I'm eager to share my insights about China and Chinese culture.
